Zoey works the party

We are so thankful that Zoey is feeling better. This little girl sure loves herself a party. Unlike the others who follow me around, Miss Zoey is not afraid to do her own thing. She was all over the yard and despite her face, she really was having a good time!

For those that think how cruel dressing a dog, Zoey loves dressing up. When I bring out an article of clothing she dances around readily waits to be dressed. I would truly NOT do this if I thought it made any of them unhappy.

There's that little smile I know and love....

Prayers for Zoey....

Those of you on fb have already heard that Zoey has 2 Mast Cell Tumors. We are leaving here shortly to take her in for surgery to remove them. When she got sick last month I took her to emergency clinic. While there I asked about a growth on her leg. They said not to worry about it. While there she had to have IV fluids. Later in the week I noticed a sore on her neck. The IV site must have bothered her and she scratched at it and made it a wound. So, I kept an eye on it, kept it clean and put antibiotic cream on it a couple of times a day. Laying in bed one night about 10 days ago, I was petting her and noticed a raised site. I thought the IV site was infected. Upon further investigation I found the second growth. We made our vet appt. and waited. Yesterday both growths were needle aspirated. The news not good. So, I guess if she hadn't gotten sick I may not have found the second growth for awhile. I am constantly reminded what the instructor told me when I took the Red Cross Course for animals...."you know your Pet best".

So, please be sure to check your little one's "skin". If you notice anything, have it checked. It could be nothing and you waste a bit of money. But, it could be SOMETHING and you could save their life!

Let's hope we are finding Zoey's in time, she does well with surgery, and has many, many, more happy years with us!

Hugs,
Punchy

PS - Marty just celebrated 2 years of wellness from his Mast Cell Surgery in 2009!

My Zoey is good!

My sweet little Zoey is feeling mighty fine today! I feel blessed. During this week have felt so helpless and sad over her being sick. I allowed myself to go to dwell on the fact that these blessed little fur balls will not be here forever. I have seen many of you loose your babies. Like many of you I read the blogs and watch the videos and cry. Cry knowing that each of us must take a turn and knowing I am SO not ready for it to be my turn. So I will count my blessings and remember that the death of my own mom 10 years ago brought Pugs into my life, so from my greatest loss came so many wonderful things. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and thoughts during Zoey's illness!

My sweet Zoey turns 7!!!!

Our little spitfire is celebrating another birthday! Hard to believe she is turning 7. She came to me on Mother's Day in 2004! Her AKC name is "Chloe's Little Bitty Zoey".
grown up and loving her Gertie....We added Rosie in 2006 and she became the middle child....which put her flat little nose out of joint for a bit....later that same year we added Marty to the bunch and she was happy not to be the "middle child" anymore. She has such a smiling little face....a little spitfire! Then in 2010 we brought home Miss Kiki. In her usual manner she just shrugged it off.Happy Birthday to our sweet little clown face Zoey!

head, shoulders, knees and toes....knees and toes...

Sometimes Zoey limps when getting up from sleeping. She also pulled a nail a couple of weeks ago and it has grown out weird. Yesterday P noticed thought he noticed a lump on the outside of her foot next to the bad toe. Then last night I caught her actually hopping on three legs...avoiding the one with the bad toe. I checked her out this morning and really didn't notice a lump, but called the vet for an appointment. He managed to get us the last appointment of the day, but I was not home, so P took her in. Seems the vet is not concerned about her toe, he is concerned with her knee. He doesn't want to put her through x-rays, etc. at this point, but wants us to watch her and gave us fish oil to add to her daily diet. She already has glucosimine in her food, but I am calling back tomarrow to see if she should/could have a supplement of it too...or if it would even help. I think she could stand to loose a little weight too. Anyhow..bad enough the poor thing has knee and toe issues, but P brings her home from vet, brings her in the house and in the midst of their arrival, a mention of treats and all the excitement Chloe bites her! What??? I couldn't believe it! C called me and said there was chaos, blood and scolding. They managed to get the bleeding stopped fairly easily and everyone was already in bed when I got home. I probably will worry all night until I can assess the situation for myself in the morning.

She really is a little spitfire and is small, the smallest of all the group. She is sort of my special bond Pug.....love them all, but someting about her. She had a rough start to her life with her mama dying when she was only 2 weeks old. My little peanut!

Anyhow, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. We'd like to avoid surgery, but if that's what it takes, we'll do what needs to be done.

After the party....

After meetup on Saturday the furry foursome and I headed to camp. P had driven straight there and was working on finishing up the screen room. Funny how things never quite go together the same from one year to the next, but they managed to get it all together and we were able to at least start putting the furniture out there.

Zoey found her favorite spot.....

and Marty, well Marty is just happy to be there!

we had dinner with friends and then headed home as P had overtime on Sunday. All in all we spent about 3 hours in the car and the Pugs were EXHAUSTED.

Creatures of habit

I've noticed when the foursome is not piling together in a spot at camp, they have their individual favorite places....

Rosie hangs on the sofa, worrying about whatever is coming up next.... Chloe sleeps in the chair, not worried about anything.....

Marty hangs out on the loveseat in the screen room.......
and Zoey sits in the chair on the porch, resting in strange positions......

Marty's bad weekend

Rosie wants to tell everyone about Marty's bad weekend. Zoey would rather forget the whole darn thing!

Everyone planned on having a good time playing outside, going for walks, and maybe even a boat ride....

but....poor Marty was sick. It all started on Thursday with him having ****dia****a - ugh, even the word is gross...plus Rosie doesn't know how to spell it. Besides the potty problem, he was not eatting...anything. Mom tried ground beef, yougurt, treats, cottage cheese, regular cheese, cake, more treats, kibble, scrambled eggs. Wow, us girls wished we could eat the stuff she was throwing in the garbage!

We all left for camp and dreamed of mom's birthday cake, but all mom could think about was Marty. She was sure he was full of cancer and she was crying. He did not eat on Friday or Saturday and continued with his potty problem. Mom said she didn't care what was going on at camp, she was taking Marty home to the emergency vet. Everyone there got pretty nervous because of the surprise party they had planned for mom. Finally on Saturday night Marty ate some of dad's beefstick. Normally mom would NEVER allow this, but she was so happy he ate anything! On Sunday morning mom made him rice and a little kibble and he gobbled it up! He still had the potty problem, but was at least eatting. By Monday he was back to normal and mom was sure happy about it! Good thing none of us girls got it!!!
