Howl-O-Ween
Sunday was Howl-O-Ween party for Pug Meetup/Rochester Small Dog Meetup. Seemed to be a "howling" good time.
Last night my son stayed overnight so he could finish up his room. He took FOUR large garbage bags of clothes out of his closet for Goodwill - No wonder he didn't have any room to put his clothes away if all those were in there! I guess that's what happens when you have the same room from the time your 4! Anyhow, it is 99% empty and looks very bleak. I can't wait to get in there and paint and change the look so I won't be sad everytime I go in there...just seems strange, my family has owned this house since 1919 and the only ones who have had that bedroom are my grandparents, my hubby and I, and then my son!
Candy corn dreams to you all!

Saturday - Dark - Rainy, but an extra hour of sleep!
Busy today. Hubby won another motorcycle for parting out...so the deal was if he took me to Home Depot for paint, I'd ride with him to pick up the motorcycle. So off we went...$202 later, I got the paint for my son's room, my dad's room and the office. I also got some really strong coverage primer for my son's room...being black! We stopped home, dropped off the paint and hooked up the trailor. Off we went, as we traveled west we left the rainy weather behind and it became sunny...yeah! Took care of the pick up business and went back home to see my son and his gf on our sofa watching tv. His comment to us....well, I see your all prepared for my room....hmmm....do I sense a little sadness???? Anyhow, he has been in town since Thursday and has only entered his room once. It could be a long time until I use that paint! So my daughter is working, son and gf are at yet another party and hubby and I went to Uno's for dinner and are now going to watch tv. I need to find something Halloween themed, which he won't watch! lol

Halloween Festivities
Seems the Halloween celebration is starting!
My son came into town for the weekend and a couple of parties....here he is portraying "toxic waste" - this is his own creation using glow in the dark paint...which REALLY SMELLED TOXIC - They may ask him to leave the party!
My daughter is off to a party too...a cat in a house full of Pugs!
Her costume is actually very cat-like, but this pic turned out very dark and doesn't show her cute little kitty ears, and I'm not showing the full length version of this cat! Phew!!!

Clean and tired
Last night we finished up with the photographer from RIT College with his project photos. The girls are part of his photo journalism project. Last time he took a lot of candids, this week he took photos of me cutting and sewing a dress for Rosie and giving all three girls baths, one at a time. 2 hours worth of photos. The girls were tired and clean after he left and I had to work oh hubby's ebay listings. Here's what the girls did while I posted...
First Rosie pushes the back of the lounge chair over and she and Zoey mash down the pillows
I think she's got it flattened to her liking
Yep, she's pretty proud of herself
and very tired
yep, very tired
Meantime Chloe keeps an eye on me
and guess what???? I was so tired I went to bed at 11pm and woke up at 2:30am, stayed up until 5am and then went back to bed until 7:30 am, and I am happy to report....no crying today!

Monday, Monday...can't trust that day...
Part One -
Okay, so I got up this morning promising myself...NO MORE TEARS.
Hubby...."so honey, do you miss R?".......
Me...."sob, sob, sob"
Hubby...."he'll be back, don't worry"
Me...."I'm not crying because he's 23 and moved out, I'm crying because he's not 6 anymore, sob, sob, sob"
Hubby..."oh, well, um, well, I, um"
Later today...after R called me twice and hubby once...
Hubby..."I talked to R"
Me...."yeah, me too, and I'm not crying anymore!"
Hubby..."well, I told him about you this morning, then I told him after you left for work I went into the bathroom and cried too!"
Me.."guess it's not just PMS"
Part Two -
Meantime, I had the telephone call yesterday afternoon about someone wanting help placing (yeah, right...getting rid of) their 7 1/2 year old Pug. Seems he has nipped/bitten their 3 year old son. After much discussion I found out...they are his 4th home, previously he was fostered due to owner relocating (guess he wasn't good enough to go along),they have 3 sons, 3, 5, and 7, he's vocal, likes other dogs, loving to humans, growled once at another dog when that dog tried to steal his ice cream. So...here I go again. I know I need to get him out of there asap. I call Central NY Pug Rescue (friends of our Pug group) and holler help....I mean if he's a biter I need a home with NO small children. I spend a lot of time on the phone and emails arranging how it will all happen...and so I leave work at 4:30 pm, meet the woman halfway between her work and my office....15 miles away. I discover he is a beautiful black male Pug. He gets into my car and when we drive away...frantically looks at their car leaving, my heart breaks for him. He noses around my car and sits in the passenger seat like it was made for him. He is a wonderful car companion. Not a sound out of him...just a few little soft Puggy noises. About 20 minutes into the drive, he decides maybe he'd like my lap. I have a serious talk with myself about saying forget the rescue drop I'm taking him HOME WITH ME. One of my Puggy friends calls, maybe she has a home for him and he won't have to go to a foster home, no luck there, I continue my drive, he comes over and settles into my lap...oh darn. He looks at me, I cry again, yep I actually have some tears left...imagine that. I drive on my daughter calls..."what are you doing?", I respond driving a Pug..."WHAT MOM WE CAN'T HAVE ANOTHER DOG!!!!" "Relax, I'm taking him to Central NY Pug Rescue"...then I add, when everyone has moved from MY house, I'm going to have TEN PUGS and NO ONE is going to be able to tell me NO!!!! Her response "are they going to use my room?" I drive on. I am practically in love with this little man....I talk to another friend, I press on. Did I mention it was a long drive? I arrive at our meeting point and we are early. I give him a couple of treats and walk him around to do potty. We settle back in the car and wait. They arrive and he is NOT happy. He barks at the husband (wow first time he has barked), he moves back off my lap into passenger seat and DOES NOT WANT TO GET OUT! Great....I'm crying again. The wife gets back into their van and I get out with him. I have to force him into her lap, she offers a treat, he won't take it. She tells me not to worry she'll be able to place him just fine. I surrender his bed, blankets and toy. I give a quick hug them and jump in my car and drive off. I decide I am NOT GOOD at rescues. I get home at 9:00 pm. I have driven 184 miles and have given myself a big headache. I come into the house and my 3 crazy girls greet me!
PS - If that little guy doesn't have a home in a week, I'm going to drive back and get him! Shhhh, don't tell my family!

What happened to the weekend?
Is it really 11:20pm on Sunday night????? Wow! Friday, my son did not leave with his fully packed car - his ex-boss was holding his pay hostage...people are strange! He ended up sleeping in the den, since his futon was in his car! Saturday he hung around and went to my nephew's engagement party, then drove to Buffalo to finally unpack the car. Hubby and I went to my co-workers wedding! We had a fun time, but were home by midnight, as my hubby says our Durango turns into a pumpkin then! This morning my son came back into town for the next load. We were going to drive the Durango all packed up and he was going to drive his car. Hubby decided we were taking WAY too long with the packing/throwing/sorting so it was decided that I would drive the Durango. My son didn't want me driving "alone" so he said he would ride with me and then come back and return later with his own car. When it got to be 1pm we decided it would be better that I follow him. We stuffed both vehicles to the brim, then went to Target to get him some supplies. I ended up buying him a coffee maker, coffee table, coffee, filters, creamer (see a theme here????) we topped off the purchase with soup, spaghetti o's, ramen noodles and pudding. So off we went, if I ever need to find their place in the future I am in trouble. I had myself all backwards. It was pouring rain, so I brought a few things in and he put the coffee table together. When his fiance' got home - there was DEEP discussion over the placement of his dresser and 100 gallon fish tank. Finally at 8pm the truck was empty, I wished them luck, my son walked me to my car and I managed to hold it all together...until I got in the truck. I cried...got a little lost...cried some more. Funny, I am not crying because my fully capable 23 year old son is moving....I'm crying for that little 6 year old boy who said he was going to live with me forever. I blinked my eyes and he is gone.

Rooms for rent Part II
Still no sign of packing in my dad's room. My son took his futon apart today and it is stuffed in his car. There have been many loads of wash done and folded. There still seems to be alot of stuff in that room. He was going to take this car load to Buffalo, but his (ex)boss seems to be holding his paycheck hostage. That will hopefully all work out without me "handling" him. Since my son was stuck here in town, I told him it was a good night to sort, throw, and pack....his answer "too depressing to think I'll never sleep in that room again"...what could I say to that? He has had the same room for almost 19 years....it's gone from Dinosaurs, to the Sea, to Snowboarding/Skateboarding. At one point an entire wall was done in clippings of Snowboarding and the opposite wall was Skateboarding. I have to admit...it looked very cool. Now it looks like a really messy room that needs cleaning, spackling, and painting.
Wow, it feels empty already.

Rooms for rent
I think I've mentioned in the past that my hubby and I had a houseful, with my dad (71), son (23) and daughter (20). Well, 3 weeks ago my dad basically moved in with his sweetie. They have been dating for about 5 months, but have known each other for years. Today, my son called to say he had gotten the job in Buffalo (did I know he had applied for a job?) and was planning on moving there with his fiance'......next week. So, now 2 rooms available. My daughter and I decided that we would move the office from upstairs to downstairs in my dad's old room, then we would turn my son's room into a sewing/scrapbooking/guest room. The office upstairs is right next to my daughter's bedroom, so we decided she could make that her personal "get-away" room. That way when she has friends over they can watch tv, or hang out and not have to be in her bedroom. But first....my dad and son need to actually CLEAN their rooms and REMOVE their belongings. Hmmmm, this could be a problem. My son took a load of stuff in his car today, now we can at least see his floor, but wow there is a lot more to go. He thinks he needs a Uhaul truck, I think he needs a dumpster. My dad's room looks like he could still be in there, he doesn't seem to be taking anything in there, he needs a dumpster too! Opps, almost forgot to mention that my daughter hopes to attend Cortland College in the Fall of '07. She told me tonight that she's only going to school and she hopes her room(s) can stay the same and I don't turn them into something else on her...I can't think of another use for her room(s) except maybe a playroom for the Pugs!

Otis needs a home - UPDATE - OTIS HAS A HOME
OTIS HAS A HOME
Here is a little Puggy I know. His name is Otis. His mom is ill and has been thinking of finding him a new home for the past year. She calls me and we talk and I have know in the past that she was not ready to give him up. Last week she called to say she was going to go through with it and took him to the vet to get a "certificate of health" for whomever took him. Unfortunately, when the blood work was done it turns out he has diabetes! He is only 2 1/2 and she is devastated. She does not have the extra money to take care of him and now is panicing about finding him a home. She has been to my house and met my girls and knows my work with my Pug groups and Pug rescue. So far I have not had anyone jumping out of the woodwork to want this little guy! Anyone out there interested?
Here are his stats..
Neutered male
2 1/2 years old
Shots current
Trained for outside, but when they leave him in they put down papers too
25 pounds
Sweet guy!
He has not been regulated for his insulin yet. If I don't place him in the next week, I (and friends) are going to pay his vet bill to get his dosage determined. My heart is torn, but 4 would be a lot for us and the whole needle business - YIKES...I'm not much good at that.

37 is ours!
Well, we drove to the new camp and #37 was the site that we liked before. The story behind getting this site sounds like "a series of unfortuante events"! Quite honestly, the waiting list, empty sites and all the unmade phone calls all turned out okay! Hubby loves that we will be in a wooded area....and it's time for a change.
Here hubby looks from front area out towards the lake. Yes, it is freezing and drizzling rain! UGH!!!!
Here he is looking at the deck that was left behind, we'll probably work off this deck with the deck we have now. He promises that he will rail the deck so the girls can safely enjoy it outside - and I can relax about it! At our present campground they would not allow any new decks with rails.
Here's a side view of the deck...I like the hostas along it!
The lake was fairly rough. I love the sound the waves hitting the shore!
I keep forgetting to take photos of the bay side. The bay is beautiful and calm, even when the lake is rough. Now hubby can fish ALL THE TIME!!!!
After we signed our contract we headed up to camp to close. We stopped and ate and got in around 10pm. Hubby got the propane tank hooked up and it was warm and cozy before we knew it. I packed a lot of the photos and stuff I had about the place. Our friends were up closing too and hubby stopped over for a quick hello. He told them we were moving and NJ sister was very upset. She said she was NOT telling PA sister and her hubby yet. We went over this am for a visit before really getting into the closing part. She told me she was very sad about us leaving, but she understands we need to leave. It is very hard for me seeing my dad's place gone..not just vacant gone! I have been traveling and staying there for almost 24 years. I just would rather start fresh and make some new memories! It was pouring when we finished up...we went over for our goodbyes...and she cried. We'll be going to NJ for her son's wedding in May....we have email...heck, maybe she'll move too!
So tomarrow we are going to the RV show, maybe we'll just trade our's in and really start fresh! More likely we will just look around and decide we like our's just fine!
By the way, my daughter said the girls were depressed while we were gone. They didn't want to settle down last night for bed...of which I told her exactly how she should take them to bed with her! This morning Rosie and Chloe didn't want to get up either. Her words were "your girls are pathetic"....yep, pathetic, yep, spoiled....oh, well, that's the breaks!

Off we go
Leaving at 4pm for the great, cold north! Brrrrrr. First stop the new camp...pray things work out there!!!! Second stop dinner. Dinner meaning actually going INTO the restaurant and not getting Wendy's take-out with dogs dancing for fries. Third stop - camp. Taking lots of extra blankets..but no Pugs. Boohoo. It's too confusing with them when it's close up time and since we're moving in the Spring, we need to do some real packing up! Hopefully we'll be back early tomarrow before they notice we're even gone......yeah right!

I may be loosing my mind...I'll let you know later!
FIRST - A BIG HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO PAISLEY!!!!!
Now, as some of you know, hubby and I have been attempting to move to a new campground. Our names got put on a waiting list back in April. In August when we went back to check the status..seems we got overlooked. There was a site that was available #37, but another family had already been called and given an opportunity to rent it. We looked at a couple of trailors for sale, but none were as big or as nice as the one we already own...so we decided to hang in there and wait and wait and wait....Well, this weekend our present campground is closing. The new campground is also closing, so I decided to give one last call today. There was no answer, but I left a voice mail message to please call me. They called me back and at first couldn't quite remember who I was...come on, how many times have I talked with them and gone there??? Anyhow, they finally found our info (back on page one) on the waiting list. They said there was only one site available, seems the gentlemen that had it has cancer and will not be able to return.....site #37???? So tomarrow right after work hubby and I will drive there, take ANOTHER look at the phantom site #37, and hopefully secure a spot to move to in April. After that we will continue the drive up to our camper to freeze our butts off, I mean spend the night! It will probably be a real "ghost" town. Rumor has it there are only 3 families (us included) left to close up! A scene from THE SHINING. Unfortunately the girls will be staying home. We can get things much faster without them underfoot!
Meantime, my son's jaw seems to be doing okay, must be all that pudding! It is snowing, REALLY snowing just west of here and our furnace is still not turned on. Looks like a 3 Pug night!

Blogging
Funny, when I started reading blogs it seemed like a fun way to meet people and puggies and others. Read funny stuff. Look at cute photos.
Now I see more. Although we may never meet, we have all become friends. We laugh with each other, give advice, and cry with each other. Little Gizmo's passing touched each of us. We all loved him and prayed for him and Kara, Alan, and Kritter and we've never met! Our prayers continue for others who are sick and suffereing and others continue to join our circle of friends.
The world is an amazing place. I am proud to "know" you all! Keep blogging...together we make the world a better place.
Love,
Punchy!

Long weekend update
We did not end up going to camp to close this weekend. After my son's little "accident", hubby decided to rest up on Friday. On Saturday we decided to close the pool..ugh! I put up my fall decorations while we drained a couple feet of water out, then helped clean the filter, etc. I can never figure out why we don't close the pool sooner or why it seems like such a big deal. There really is nothing to closing up the pool. In the afternoon we headed off to hubby's class summer party. I really didn't want to go, but we left our house around 3pm and never came back home until 9:30pm! It's always interesting to see people "once a year". When hubby graduated his school was guys only, so all us wives have one thing in common...we didn't go to that school! Sunday we met for breakfast with my dad, his girlfriend, my sister, her boyfriend and my niece and nephew. We had an enjoyable breakfast, went back to my sister's for a bit and then took the girls to Pug Meetup. The weather was so beautiful. Chloe really enjoys meetup. She is the only one I allow off-leash!! The other two were off for a bit, but then I was so nervous I put them back on their leashes so I could socialize too! Today I had off from work. I organized my closet. I packed away summer and brought out fall/winter..ugh!!! I love fall, but winter...well....a little is okay! I washed the siding by the front door, on the landing on a ladder, thinking the whole time about falling. Trimmed my roses, washed the picture window in my kitchen (inside and out), another ladder experience. I also did several loads of wash and then took a nice long walk. I think tonight I may be tired! I have off Tuesday too, I may just snuggle and read with Pugs all day!

Accident prone family update
Well, we were supposed to leave for camp after work today and spend one last weekend (maybe forever) at camp....but since my son's little "accident" yesterday, we spent way too much time today running around and worrying, so tonight we just ordered Chinese, and as I told hubby "I did my chores"....laundry, vacumning, blogging....
So back to my son. After many telephone calls we got through to doctor (for referal) Blue Choice (for doctor update to get referal) oral surgeon, and on and on. Hubby took him to his noon appt. Yes, his jaw is fractured. Turns out the fracture was caused by yes, the fall, but more because his wisdom tooth is impacted and growing sideways into his jaw. YIKES! Anyhow, he had three choices - 1 - he could have his jaw wired -2- he could have surgery to remove the wisdom teeth and then have a plate put in with screws - 3 - he could do NOTHING for 6 weeks, no chewing, no sports, no rough housing. Now the surgeon wanted option 1. He felt the fracture was pretty severe, but guess which one my son picked????? Yep, 3rd option - nothing...that's my brave boy! He is not on pain meds, antibiotics, and a special oral mouthwash, and his diet consists of pudding, jello, yogurt, applesauce, and squash! Yep, he loves my homemade squash. I'm thinking he'll be pretty sick of it by Thanksgiving!!
So tomarrow promises to be a beautiful Fall day in upstate NY. We'll head out early with the girls to go to camp, pack stuff up, spend the night and come home on Sunday. Hubby has to work Sunday night, but I am off until Wednesday! Yippee!!! I better get out those Fall decorations! Wegmans (grocery store) already has the CHRISTMAS TREES up!!!!!

Black Cloud??? Harvest Moon????? or Full Moon?????
I have previously posted about my son's black cloud. Things just don't seem to go right for him...alot. Today's mini disaster. I work until 5pm - at 4:59 pm my son (age 23) calls me - mild hysteria, muffled....seems he went down our main staircase head first. I quickly drove home to find him icing his face, off to Urgent Care...fractured jaw, sprained finger. Head back home, stop at CVS to fill pain rx. Now he's VERY hungry, but can't chew or close his mouth. A little yogurt, some soup broth, and last night's left over squash. Back to CVS to pickup rx. Back home dispense drugs and some motherly advice to take one day at a time and go to bed....added instructions were to knock on my door before attempting stairs. Tomarrow we will be seeing our doctor and getting an oral surgeon referral.

Pug-O-Ween 2006
Pug-O-Ween provided lots of puggy fun for 100 pugs and their families! Woo hoo. Here comes Sheriff Chloe to save the day.........
She heard things were getting a little crazy in the OK Pug Corral, so she got her deputy, Rosie to help out.
Opps, seems Indian Zoey is trying to make her escape!
Yes, I did design and make their costumes! Who has more fun than me!!!!!!!
