Happy 9th Birthday Marty!

Our guy turns 9 today. His second birthday with us. Last year on his birthday I did a rescue on Marty's day. He understood completely. We have no idea of his life prior to getting him in November of 2006. Sometimes I look into his eyes and wonder what ever went on in his previous homes? We heard there were four. We have figured out things with him by chance...like last year when he ran onto the dock and jumped into OUR boat. A boat he had never seen before! We also think he may have been left outside in a backyard for long periods of time as he barks at birds and planes (looking up), but doesn't bark at cars, or ground level stuff...strange. A lot of times I wonder, "what was I thinking"....he's older, has smelly breath, and makes all kinds of noises....then he looks at me and I know he's where he is meant to be. Happy Birthday to our Marty!

Happy Birthday, Marty! I wonder the same things sometimes when I look at Clementine, 'what have you been through, little pug?' But it makes me happy that I know where she is now - with a family that loves her very much! - Just like you, Marty!

Happy Birthday Marty!

I think the same of Gus when he cringes over something normal or non descript. And it's hard to get mad at him cause he looks so sad when he is trouble. :(
I think, oh baby what did they do to you? But I know he is so well loved and spoiled now that I hope he forgets his old life. :)

Hey, Marty was born on the day I got married. Happy Birthday to Marty! Is he getting any special treats today?

I often think the same things about cats that come into our rescue group. If animals could talk, oh the stories they could tell, eh?

LOVE that picture of Marty!! Happy birthday, cute boy!
I often wonder what happened to Sela as well before we got her. She was only around seven months old when we got her, but whatever happened left an impression on her as she has severe separation anxiety, is always at my feet, and, when we first got her, was afraid of men. Also, one time Rob tossed a pair of socks rolled up at me while Sela was laying on me and as he started to lift his arm to throw it, she went crazy trying to defend me (thinking he was going to hit me) and then cowered. :( Breaks my heart that she can remember those obviously bad things that happened to her when she was so young. But, every year she seems to get better and better.
I'm so glad you have Marty!

That is a wonderful picture - it looks like it's professional photo for a magazine.

Happy Birthday Marty. that is a great photo of you. Mom hates to think of Lucky stuck in a 4 foot pen all day long, with no loving or cuddling. Especially since Lucky is so loving and cuddly. thank goodness you were there to get Marty, and give him a wonderful forever home.
