I can almost like progress....

When I was young this land was still part of my grandparents farm 100 acre farm. When we purchased the house from my grandmother in 1987, the farm consisted of only 1.25 acres. This view from my kitchen windo was a private road and a lush green field. Move ahead to the 90's and a company built a warehouse. It was still lush and green from our view...but just glance to the left and behind the trees you would see the warehouse. A couple of years ago a company purchased the warehouse and adding a MAJOR addition and parking lot to the front, the private road became public and the green field was dug out to make 3 ponds....I gotta tell you I LOVE looking at these ponds. They have fountains which run during the weekdays and the water fowl is amazing. Saturday morning I watched this Blue Heron. He (she?) has been there on an off all week. I don't know much about Herons, but they are beautiful for sure. I can handle this type of progress. The sort where wildlife can still live and visit.....

Herons are around here because of all the lakes. They are beautiful indeed. What a lovely view out your window! Lush and green.

It is amazing how built up land gets. When I was a child my family moved out to unincorportated St.Charles, IL. That means it was in St. Charles township, but too far to "really" say so. Yes, it was the sticks. (That farmhouse story you read in Josies bloggy.) My dad built my mom her dream house in '87 (ha, same yr.) and there was nothing out there. Just a road that ran North and South (Randall Road) and can you believe it...a vets office! Nothing else. The closest store there was seemed like half a days drive. (of course in my child brain) My parents had to sell the place in the late 90's and sometimes when my mother and I go out to lunch we will drive past it and I don't even recognize it at all. It is all built up. Stores, strip malls, Subdivisions. There is even a kohls like minutes away from where our farmhouse use to be!!!! Unbelievable!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos. Nice they left some land!

have a good nite,
