Changes

A calm Lake Ontario

Hubby checking things out...

Lots more trees than our current location

Can't believe that Labor Day is right around the corner. Seems like it was just Spring and we were talking about selling or moving our camp. Now a whole season has almost past and the decision hanging over our heads! We have the opportunity to move to a location MUCH closer to home (not as close as you Lisa!). Our current camp is 105 miles one way. The new site is 46 miles one way. At our current camp we can not leave our boat in the water. The new place has dockage space, so there would be no more putting the boat in and out and especially driving our big truck each weekend to do the pulling of the trailor and boat! Both places are on Lake Ontario, but the new place is on a point with Lake Ontario on one side and a small enclosed "bay" on the other. We hear the bay is full of fish and since it is protected on all sides stays pretty calm even when the lake is rough. Let me tell you that lake can get rough! The drawbacks are many too. Leaving good friends, no cable (hubby cares about that), getting used to new owners, leaving behind terrific restaurants and beautiful Sackett's Harbor, only 5 minutes away. We have been here for 8 years, my dad has been there for 25 years. Lots of memories. But on the other hand being closer would be SO nice. Hubby could drive his motorcycle. The new owner doesn't care how many Pugs we have. We could get more friends to visit (they hate the 2+ hour drive where we are now). Did I mention the rent is cheaper too????? The new place would be less money!

That's a hard a decision, I'm sure. Those pictures are so pretty. Sounds like some good points for making change. With gas prices like they are...I'm thinking a little change is a good thing plus being able to keep your boat in the water would be nice.

I've never had a baby before so I can't compare...:)

But have you ever had a kitten...like a fresh little baby kitten and think of how sharp their nails are when they scratch and it only cuts a few layers of skin...it hurts like that. That's the most common way to describe it. But don't let it deter you b/c you won't regret it when you get it done! They're so wonderful!

well since your from new york, you must be on the opposite side of good ol' lake ontario. your side doesn't look as green and radioactive as my side lol, i'm by the power plant. looks like a lovely spot for a trailer and i agree with sandy, with gas prices and all, changes can be good.

Wow I would be on the fence with that decision also...what to do ?what to do? Well sounds like from your past posts the new owners have been hard on your fathers camper being older than they want in their campground, went up on rent, so far away from home....makes it want to sell or move to another camp but, friends, memories and great restraunts makes it hard to leave.... you have made so many great memories there for so many years....if you do decide to move you can make more memories and find new great restaurants to eat at and have cable TV LOL and better fuel mileage.....I know you will do whats right for you and your family and Pugs...( the new camp does allow Pugs I hope!) LOL

A new place to start new memories of your own isn't a bad idea either.

Beautiful pictures.

I think we will be much happier at the new place. The distance alone will take some stress off it all. Now we wait for the "perfect" lot to open up. There are three places for sale, but we already own our own rv. There are two lots open, but they are on the main road across from public bathrooms and some of the parking...yuck! So, tomarrow my daughter and I will stop by there to bug the owners. One of the for sales is owned by them. IF we BUY it, we can move on there and then move that one off and sell it, yeah, just what I want to do! Anyhow, I'm just trusting this will all work out and not worrying about it!

Having a closer camp would be a huge (and great) difference. YOu wouldnt have to "waste" time traveling. And keeping your boat in the water sounds like a great idea too.
