Note to self...take 3 deep cleansing breaths.....

The wedding is only 11 days away.....how can that be? I have a couple of details to get done...the favor tags and the card box. Not sure why I haven't finished those up....procrastination?

Pugstock is only 20 days away. I have a lot to do for that. Organize the volunteers, fencing, tie-dye a t-shirt, and pull together all the stuff that is going to go on.

GreenMountainPugSocial is 25 days away. I am having a booth there! You know I have lots to do for that! I foresee some serious sewing fitting into my schedule for the next 3 weeks!

Lastly is BloggyMeetup'09 in 39 days. Our third annual meetup! I was able to secure VERY INEXPENSIVE 2 bedroom condos through my SIL. Really inexpensive! Honest! If anyone is interested in joining us, please either email, comment, call, or whatever! We'd like to get a final list in place by September 9th! Come on, it'll be great FUN!!!!

Maybe I better take a few more cleansing breaths.......

Back home....

We're back home after our week at camp. Sadly the weather wasn't the best. I only got out in the boat twice and the Puggies did not get to go boating at all....sigh.

Since getting home in one swift move I spilled my cup of coffee on the dining room table... soaked the cloth placemats, the lace tablecloth, the underneath tablecloth, the rug under the table....OFF WHITE, and my laptop......wow, I thought the rain was bad - UGH.

We're trying to catch up with everyone's posts.

Special thoughts going out to Sandy and Sugar. Sandy your amazing with your strength and kindness. Pearl, we hope your surgery recovery goes well! Happy "Belated" Birthday to Devil Dog's mama. Happy "BIRTH"day to Brayton! Congrats Rob and Paige! Walter we're happy you continue to recover in a big way.

I've missed you all this week!!!

A couple of unanswered questions

I seem to always forget to answer the questions that come about in the comments. I should probably start a list? Oh, gosh, another list, not sure my life can handle that right now.

A couple of recent questions -

The bridge from yesterday's post.

It takes FOREVER to go up and down...at least it seems that way when your late for work! It groans and creaks and makes me very nervous. It is well maintained.

The stairs on the side are so people can cross in the event the bridge is UP. I have never seen anyone use the stairs. Everyone walking mills about and waits for it to go down.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I was walking across, with high heels on? P was meeting me in town, I messed up the location so I was walking BACK across, I had briefcase, purse, etc. He calls my cell looking for me and at the same time my high heel gets wedged in the bridge and I walk out of it!!!! At that point I'm deciding whether to a)leave the shoe b) drop my phone c) cry. I'm sure the drivers had a good laugh. I did manage to hang up the cell, unwedge the shoe and carry on....sigh....

Opps, back to the questions. There was a question as to why I don't eat the fish. Well....first off I can't eat anything I've seen alive and breathing. Second, I'm not fond of the taste of the strong fish like Salmon. Believe it or not P also does not eat much of it. I have NEVER cooked anything he has caught. We mainly give it to people we know love it. Plus isn't there Mercury in fish?????

And speaking of fishing. Remember the Fishing Derby we hosted a few weeks ago? Well, some of the guys had fun and when P went to his boat at 5am this is what he found.

First he thought the dock had problems, then he realized the joke!

Up and down.....

The village I work in has the Erie Canal pass through it. When taller boats, or boats with masts need to go by the bridge raises. On this particular morning I was the first car. My office isn't far across the other side, but unless you realize the bridge is going to go up about a half mile before, there is no place to turn to avoid it....you just wait.

Indy Bloggers she LOVED your city. She even met a Pug. Maybe you know this Pug? Her name was "i-own-a-pug"????? Not sure how they actually spelled the name. What a great idea. I need another Pug.

Hot, hot, hot....weekend!

This weekend was HOT. The guys had the Salmon Fishing Derby, so we decided to take a drive and see some sights. D is from downstate and has been coming to the area for years, but has never walked about some of the coastal places. We drove the back roads and visited the lighthouse at the point. It was so quiet. We couldn't believe that there weren't any people milling about on a Saturday. We also walked into a couple of shops and then got lunch. We ate inside as it was so hot and muggy lunch outside would have been horrible. On Sunday P and I took the boat out. Some other friends from camp told us about a quiet, sandy spot on the lake. We first took a ride, then headed to the spot. It was really nice, shady, with a slight breeze and nice sandy bottom. We hung out in the boat, swam, and then our friends came over on their jet skis. They tied up to us and we sat and hung out. Then we all took jet ski rides. I hadn't been on one in YEARS...like 25! They seem much safer and don't tip over like the ones we went on when we were younger. I doubt I'd spend the money on a pair, I like P to do the driving and be able to bring the Pugs along.
Speaking of Pugs, it was way too hot for them outside or on the boat. They slept the time away in the nice air-conditioning!

Another Little Ole' Lady crosses the Rainbow Bridge

Please take a moment and visit Andrea over at Black Pug Knits, whose wonderful little old lady, Marley passed away yesterday! She and Andrea were pals for a very long time and I know she'll be greatly missed. What a fiesty little old lady she was....

He's dreaming of this.....

Today P is hosting the 3rd annual Bass Derby at camp. He's hoping our boat brings in a bunch of these like last year... Personally I wish he'd throw them all back!

bye, bye, pool....

In 1996 we decided to take the "plunge" and get a pool. We had a lot of fun times, but between camp and boating, last year decided not to open the pool.

It seemed P and the Pugs were the only ones who had time to swim. The pool became more work than fun. Also, when the pool was installed we had issues with the side walls bowing out. It is an oval pool and we were told that it was a problem consistent with oval pools. Bull. The first two years we owned it, the installers put it up and took it down TWICE. This year we decided enough was enough. Take the pool down!

Day One consisted of draining the cover and then the pool itself....slightly stinky!
You can see in this pic how the wall was actually bowing out. It was same on other side and was actually pushing the deck. Day 2 - Bees discovered under top frame. All work halted for bee hive spraying.

Day 3 - Crazy how fast it came down! It was sort of sad for me...even sadder to have to help dismantle! The only creatures I saw were a frog and two toads. I really expected maybe a snake? or something else slimy? The parts will be taken to the scrapyard and made into cash!

PS I'm thinking we should just light the deck on fire?

hanging by a thread

The shoreline of Lake Ontario is strange in places. At home it is rocky and in many areas houses are at lake level. My family had a "cottage" not far from our house in town. We watched the shoreline disappear. The front yard was about 7 feet wide the last time I was there. Errosion. Crazy. Many people spends thousands and thousands of dollars putting up elaborate breakwalls to save their property from disappearing. Can you imagine living up on this cliff????? There are many cliffs like these near us at camp, and in fact the two cottages across the road from us are dangling at the edge of the cliffs (not this high!). We take bets every Fall whether or not they will be there when we return in the Spring. I wouldn't want to have a problem with sleep walking....I mean, just saying?

51 days until trip to Green Mountain Pug Social.

Off to college/shadow sitting

Next month C is transferring to a local private college. She met with her advisor to work on her schedule and 2 year plan to finish her BA. I sat as moral support in the shadows. She has turned into an awesome, confident, knows what she wants young woman. I know she's going to be fine. No more shadow sitting for me!

We saw a couple of versions of these little "cars" about campus. Maybe they raffle them off????
PS - I want to go back to college.....

Creatures of habit

I've noticed when the foursome is not piling together in a spot at camp, they have their individual favorite places....

Rosie hangs on the sofa, worrying about whatever is coming up next.... Chloe sleeps in the chair, not worried about anything.....

Marty hangs out on the loveseat in the screen room.......
and Zoey sits in the chair on the porch, resting in strange positions......
