One man's junk.....

If your a crafter you know we all end up with tons of stuff. Sewers have buttons, trims, fabric, threads, and patterns, those that knit and crochet have yarn, patterns, needles, hooks, and markers. There are those that paint, do ceramics, make candy, you name it. When my mom died I ended up with her craft supplies, which included around 75 spools of ribbon, and jewelry making stuff...earring backers, pins, beads, feathers.

ANYHOW....Girlville and 30Something had started a mini-challenge between them to finish some of the unfinished projects they have. In November I joined them and we give each other MORE idea for more projects! BAD BAD BAD.

In the theme of finishing projects I knew I needed a few more items and decided to visit a shop in the village where I work. How have I NEVER gone in here before????????

This shop is run entirely by volunteers. The "inventory" consists of donations....I guess like a Goodwill for crafters???? All proceeds go to local senior citizen's groups and anything donated is tax deductible! Honestly a win, win, situtation. You can read more about it here: Craft Bits & Pieces

Unfortunately their hours are short in the Winter and they sadly told me they were closing at 2pm (it was 1:55!) I had actually only gotten through a little of the stuff and seriously had to hold myself back from buying NEEDLESSLY. I really wanted to go through the pattern books and buttons and stuff for scrapbooking.

I only spent $1.00 and scored a box or plastic hearts for my Valentine tree (25cents) and 2 packages of quilt binding and one package of piping. Woohoo! The woman in front of me spent $66!!! With stuff only being 25 cents, 50 cents, $1.00, she had 4 huge bags! Crazy!

So this weekend I am going to start going through my own supplies and my mom's and get a donation box ready.

$1? Holy Cow that's insane!! I wish there was a place like that around here so I could give them all my extra yarn!

Some lady spent $66? I can only imagine what her house looks like - YIKES!

Whoa Nelly! I would so love to have a store like that near me. But then again, I may be able to open up a store like that with all the boxes of odds and ends that I have.

I'll have to check your bloggy friends. I have a few UFO's that I'd like to finish this year.

That store sounds amazing! I so wish there was something like that here. I bet that lady in front of you really had quite the haul!

Oh, the trouble I could get in with a store like that around. For every bag I'd take in for donations I'd walk out with another two or three.

What a good idea for a charity store! I have lots of crafting odds and ends kept in bins in the garage. I hang onto it in case I ever have some kids around to do crafts with.

That is great!!! I can see how that would be a great store to frequent. Plus just being able to donate your things know that someone will probably buy them for a good cause, too. I buy stuff at the store thinking I'll make something and then years later I'm throwing it away or giving it to someone to put in their yard sale.

That sounds like a great place. I think mom would be in trouble ther. She gets bad when she goes to the fabric store.

Lucky for you and good for you for going through all your stuff to donate something. I'm in agreement with everyone else I want one of those stores near me.
