ha, i cooked in my crockpot last weekend! 2 pork tenderloins (cause there were 2 in the pack) and a bottle of eastern NC style bbq sauce (vinegar based). cooked for about 4 hours on high then shredded meat with 2 forks - the husband said it was the best thing i'd ever made! you can pick up some bbq sauce when you come down.

Mom loves fall as well. But after last winter, she is not looking forward to winter (or fall) at all.

I just made a beef stew recipe Monday that my mother in law gave me. I made it on the stove top, but it can be made in the crock pot.

3 tbls flour
1.5 lbs of stew beef
1 can of diced tomatoes with garlic
1 can of tomato paste (6oz)
Three carrots, sliced
2 russet poatotes, diced
1 packet of lipton french onion soup mix
1 packet of mushroom gravy - follow packet instructions to make gravy.
1/2 cup of water.

-coat the beef in flour then brown in a skillet. Put the beef and all other ingredients in the crock pot - medium heat for most of the day (6-8 hours) or high for less time (3-4 hours).

It is *very* thick and stewy, but hearty and filling on a good chilly fall night. :)))
Oh, also, because I'm from the south and I like a little heat (my MIL is from Ohio....not so much into this) - I added hot sauce, cumin, cayenne pepper and black pepper to taste. It gave the base a little bit of a chili taste which I like.

Mmm pulled pork sandwiches and stew!! I love fall and winter with all the yummy foods!
We do chili in the crockpot but I don't really have a recipe.. its mostly throw a bunch of stuff in and go. Same with stew. :)
I have a bunch of great recipe books that are especially for the crock pot though. Company's Coming has one thats pretty good.
