A tad sad

Most of you know that my mom passed away in 2000. My stepdad has had some health problems and is giving up their house. Yesterday, I stopped over there to meet my stepsister to get a few of my mom's remaining things. After all these years you would think it would be easier to go in there..... it's not. All that is left is some of the bigger furniture. It is sad in there....really sad. I feel like she has disappeared again.

Anyhow they gave me a box of some small items and when I opened it I found her drivers license, social security card and these key rings. Small pieces of a life that once was.

I always felt the same way every time I would go to my grandma's house, and there was less and less, its very hard and very sad to our hearts.

I am the youngest of ten, my mom died in 1997, when I was thirty. I don't think I will ever fully recover from her death, I still miss her, I just wanted to say I feel your pain.
I am also thankful that I had my strong, spirited mom for thirty years of my life.

Sorry about your mom. I lost my dad last year, he was only 65 and I think of him all the time. As time goes on our memories get happier rather hten sadder

Sorry for your loss...it's still hard for me too. Some days more than others...lost my Mom in 10 years ago. Time does help it be less sad and knowing where she is now too and no longer in pain helps. Happy you got a few things though to help you smile about your Mom when you hold them in your hands :)

My mom is an orphan as of 2008. Her father passed away in 2008 and her mom in 1995. In 2008, the old house where she grew up in was fixed up and sold...that was rough. We still sometimes drive over just to look at the place...once a year or so...it's been awhile...usually when we change the flowers at the cemetery.
It was nice to get all the photos and remember though...

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It's always hard to deal with the death of a loved one, no matter how much time has passed.

Sorry for your loss. The boyfriend lost his dad about 10 years ago and I watch him hurt on a regular basis. I understand how difficult it can be, but at least you got some wonderful memories back when you picked up her remaining items. It's nice to know she's kept memories of what I assume are you and your brother for as long as she did.

You never really get over a loss, do you. It was sweet of your family to give you those things. Funny how the "little" things seem more precious than the big.
Sending you peace and comfort.
