Belated Mardi Gras Pics
Today was Pug Meetup Mardi Gras Style. Here are a few photos that I took. I'll post more and better photos tomarrow when our friends send them to me!
My husband being bombarded by our Puggy friend Benny. Notice Rosie sitting on the back of the sofa! She had enough of the "boys" and jumped up there to hide behind daddy. That's Rosie in the "headlock". She and Benny love each other and were acting CRAZY.

Our Flower Girl gets married!
Our sweet niece got married tonight. She was our flower girl when she was only 2. Her new hubby is a great guy. They are both in the Army and most likely she will be shipped out in June. She won her beautiful wedding gown by entering a contest for "service people". She told "their" story and was chosen. My photos don't do justice to the dress. It was ivory with beautiful gold appliques and beading....just beautiful.

More Un-Birthday....
I have come to realize that a long weekend, does not mean more time to get things done. I had good intentions, but alas....did not complete what I had set in my mind, so I am back-tracking to the Pug party we had on Sunday. Our turn out was a little smaller due to several cases of the flu, etc. We had 21 adults, 1 baby, 1 toddler, 21 Pugs and 1 Italian Greyhound! There were plenty of good eats and a "Puggy" gift exchange.
AM, yes Marty was there, but very busy following me from space to space. Here he is being a good boy at the party...
Some party goers enjoying a little game of "keep away"
Zoey tried on her gift...a "diva sweater". I'm surprised Rosie didn't try to eat the feathers on it.
Chloe "watching" the goings on.
Monday my husband, daughter and I met my dad and his girlfriend out for breakfast. Then my daughter and I went shopping. I haven't been out shopping since before Christmas. This weekend is our niece's wedding and my son's birthday. We didn't get gifts for either. We also did not find a dress for my daughter to wear. I did manage to buy a new pair of boots and a pair of shoes. I had to be home early, in order to take Chloe to her annual check-up. The vet says she could stand to drop 2 pounds...poor baby! She had her rabies shot and heart worm test and home we went. After the vet we (Pugs and I) settled in for a nice nap, which I never do!
The evening consisted of one of our ebay auctions ending and doing listings for another, packing my husband's lunch, and reading emails.
Today, well today I am doing my best to stay awake at work! I have a lengthy Planning Board meeting tonight, so I better wake up soon!

Friday - one more trip to work! and Gramma's pharmacy
TGIF - There will be no Puggy Pen Pics today. The snow was over the door and I had to push my way out, then shovel my way across, down steps to the pen. It was so windy and cold I am not sure any Pug in the pack peed ...who can tell when their up to their ears in snow?????
Anyhow, RAGUS, come on up and make snow angels! I wouldn't suggest trying to fly in this weekend as we are still backed up with flights!
For today's post I am posting Gramma's Pharmacy
Ear mites. All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear...Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing. Kills fleas instantly...
Dawn dishwashing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Good-bye fleas.
Rainy day cure for dog odor ...Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.
Did You Know that drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately-- without the unpleasant side effects caus ed by traditional "pain relievers."
Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.
Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.
Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles.
Sore throat? Jus t mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.
Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms.
Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly-- even though the product was never been advertised for this use.
Honey remedy for skin blemishes ... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it.
Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.
Listerine therapy for toenail fungus. Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.
Easy eyeglass protection... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.
Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer ... If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly.
Smart splinter remover. Just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue.
Hunt's tomato paste boil cure ...cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head.
Balm for broken blisters... To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine. a powerful antiseptic.
Vinegar to heal bruises ... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.
Quaker Oats for fast pain relief... It's not for breakfast any more! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.
Anyone ever try any of these??????

Snow day, snow day, where are you???
First a big thanks to AM and Lisa for the Valentine's Day cards. What fun to get mail that isn't a bill - LOL
Chloe didn't seem to mind running through it, but you can barely make me out on the front deck by the door.
Rosie seems to have a "monkey" on her back, don't worry she always has that look, she really doesn't mind.
My drive home yesterday was a little scary. My little 5-speed plugs through. I only went down part of a small hill sideways...woohoo.
My husband said last night his drive in was worse. He drives a 4 wheel drive SUV and he called to say there were cars and trucks and police everywhere. He doesn't scare easy, so I knew it was bad. My daughter is stuck south of here at her friends. She went out last night, despite my comments. Now she has to figure out how to get into classes this morning.
I'll have to take some pics of todays snow....now the puggy pen is barely visible. Putting the gang in there is like throwing marshmallows into a cup of hot chocolate...poof....

New Happy Home
Remember the two puggies I did the rescue for??????
I think those two are loving their new home!
I too have been a victim of the blogging blues. My husband is working on ebay stuff and hogging the digital camera. Plus he is on the computer ALL THE TIME. I'm thinking it may be time to get a second computer - and HIDE IT!
Today was a semi-productive day. I made breakfast, emptied the silverware drawer and re-washed everything, re-organized my fabric stash (no small feat), took down the wooden/figurine Pug perpetual calendar and re-hung in new office (neccesitated hammer, screws, etc.), made sauce and pasta for dinner, 2 loads of wash, a trip to PetSmart for dog food, a trip to Joann Fabrics for Mardi Gras outfits for the gang....this along with...the dogs go out 1,2,3,4, the dogs come in 1,2,3,4 at least 6 times, maybe more. Blah to snow and cold..Chloe hates it!!!!! But then again, at least with the cold they do their job quick. When it is nice out, they sniff every blade of grass, it's crazy! So all in all, I have nothing to show for the weekend except for groceries and clean silverware!

Not a good idea!
A local young man decided to try out driving his SUV on the bay near our house.....that's his SUV hmmmmm or should it be called SUB!
Thankfully no one was in the SUV. It took 2 days to get it out. They just finished tonight! They finally flipped it on it's hood, then side and dragged it across. This was an expensive "fun" idea for sure. Not only is the SUV ruined. Add in the costs of insurance, towing, and DEC fines!

Up to my eyeballs in W-2's
Tonight I forced myself to work on our income taxes. My daughter has 4 different w-2's, my son 3 and ourselves just one each. Between filing, claiming, college costs, etc. I did some jumbling around and think I'm all set. I'm printing them and then will "recheck" the hard copies tomarrow. I have used H&R Block Tax Cut for the past 3 years. I have to say the program is very simple to use and for $29.99 it really pays for itself. I also do my step-dad's tax return and my cousin called and asked me to do his. I tell them "I am not responsible in the event of an audit!"
In other news around our city...a woman let her Pit Bull starve/freeze to death in her garage. What runs through someone's mind to do something awful like this. I know that breed has a stigma attached, but no animal deserves to suffer like that. Personally I think she should have to spend a week in her cold garage with no food......
and lastly, my college alma mater...Oswego State University got 7 FEET of snow yesterday!!! Yep, 7!!!! Years ago when I was there we had a storm that brought in 5 feet of snow. It was amazing. We were basically closed in our dorm! Luckily we had a dining hall right in our complex. I remember it being SO MUCH FUN!!!!! Brrrrrr.....
