Thankfully the antibiotics are working and Marty's facial swelling has gone down. I know the bad teeth are still there, but buying more time to think about him having a dental......
It is always scary especially with the older ones. Our CharShu had a dental when he was 17. He had a chronic snotty nose due to some bad teeth which we couldn't get cleared up with antibiotics. Our vet left it up to us but his heart was strong, she felt he would do OK. She always uses a safer anestesia with the pugs. And to lessen the stress on him, we did not take him in till just before she was ready for him. They then let us take him home right away wrapped in a warm blanket. We kept him separated from the other pugs and I stayed right with him to keep him calm as he woke up (they tend to thrash about as the anestetic wears off, that part was tough). He did Ok. I am trying something with Bailey & Hazel that my hygienist recommended. It sprinkles on their food and does something to their saliva that is supposed to get rid of the plaque. Not sure yet how well it is working but their breath is much better. I can't remember exactly what it is called but if you might be interested I will check when I get home from work. pughugs, Bailey, Hazel, Greta & mom Linda
