Meetup continued......

Chloe relaxes.... The girls wait anxiously while I attend to Marty outside. I think it is amazing how they "hang out" together no matter where we are. A little pack of Pugs.

This was my greeting when I arrived. Wow, don't look at my horrible hair! That is bad after driving with windows open to cool Pugs and needing a haircut!

This is my friend L. That is one of her Pugs, *Miss*Patsy. She is one of the sisters I dog sat at work last week.

Pied Piper of Pugs

I am up to my eyeballs in sewing here and have been neglecting my blog, but wanted to share a couple of pics from the weekend.

Sunday we drove in from opening camp so I could go to the local Pug Meetup. As always treats have a following:

Excuse my harried look in the pic, but it turned out SO HOT that day and my air is broke in my car. I had the windows and vents open and made myself a wreck. At the end of the Pug part I left to go home and the Pugs were so excited and it was so hot, I thought Zoey was going to go into heat stroke. I got about 1/2 mile away and turned back and called my daughter to come and pick them all up. I sure didn't want anything to happen to those furry faces. We all know heat is dangerous to pets, but especially these flat-faced little creatures!

Off to camp...

Tomarrow morning we're heading to here.......We've been super busy lately. I'm still trying to figure out how I ever had time to raise kids!

I've been sewing in my free time before and after work each day, trying to stock my Etsy shop and get ready for our booth at *bark heard round the world* in May. I finally thought I was going to be in good shape and ready early and then yesterday an opportunity came up to have a booth at pet*expo next weekend. Of course I couldn't say no! So now everything put together for May, I'll be exhibiting next weekend. It would be very cool to sell it all and have to start over for May!!! Honestly, both events are for very good causes, the May event is put on to raise awareness of puppymills and promote adopting or rescuing a pet, and the expo is a big pet event, with information, selling, demonstrations, etc. The proceeds from the entry fees for this are going to a fund to assist people that can't afford vet assistance. Heck maybe I'll sell enough doggie clothing to quit my day job!

No wonder I'm tired

By 9am this morning I had:

Let dogs out,
Fed dogs,
Read emails,
Completely binded a lap quilt,
Got ready for work,
Listened to C whine about being sick,
Let dogs out again,
Went to Western Union (at KMart) to pick up money from an ebay sale,
Went to Post Office to mail package,
Went to Bank,
Went to Library to drop off books.....

********************************
Today is my last day of doggie daycare at work. Devil Dog's mom asked what type of place I work at that allows dogs. I am a paralegal at a law office. My bosses both have dogs. One of them brings his dog in at least once a week. The other visits occasionally. They don't mind the dogs at all. I usually don't bring mine for the whole day as #1 I have FOUR...#2 It's hard to concentrate on working with a dog on your lap #3 They bark at the phones, noise, etc. #4 The other girls in the office want to play with them and then none of us get work done! LOL The boss I do most of my work for So these two visitors are a welcome diversion this week. My office is upstairs, so as long as no one needs to use the conference room that is upstairs too, I am all set. I just close the door and they sleep, snuggle, and play. We take a walk around the village at lunch time and they are picked up by 4:30pm.

My days have gone to the dogs

First, R brought his "puppy" over for a visit. Two weeks ago she was smaller than any of the Pugs..now, well, now she towers over them and starting today, our friend's Pugs will be at the office with me. Their petsitter fell through, so another friend and I are helping them out. They are coming to the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with me. They are so sweet! I am enjoying having them there with me!

Weekend Stuff

Saturday was Meetup. P was going to go with me, but then decided to work on motorcycles. There was discussion about only taking two, but then which two? So we got ready. Here Chloe shows off the new harnesses I bought the girls. We have been wearing the Puppia ones, which I do love, but they always seemed to attract that Pug hair and Rosie's had gotten way too small. So for summer we got these....

I wrestled that furry foursome into my bug and off we went. There was tons of Pugs this month! Everyone had a great time and blew off some steam racing around. As I looked around I realized that 1/2 the Pugs in attendence were rescues...amazing!
Marty sure was happy!

We woke Sunday to an even more glorious day! In the early afternoon we took the gang for a walk, then came home and I started the HUGE project of raking. Since we have over an acre, that is NO EASY JOB. My arms and hands hurt this morning, big time! I barely finished only one part in the side yard, up to the pool. I surveyed the gardens and see some plants making their way. It's amazing what a couple days of 60 degree weather and sunshine can do!
I ended the weekend working on our Pug group's new website and sewing. I think the Pugs will sleep all day today...they are exhausted from the weekend.

600th Post wow

Week One Flower Project Today marks the end of week one for the hanging basket project. Notice seedlings are already germinating! The packages did not have the germination rates, but I know some seeds take longer than others. The window I have hung this in, gets wonderful sun. I need to prepare a spray bottle to keep the moss moist. It looks rather dry here.

My hands have moved from scrapbooking to sewing more. The carpal tunnel surgery was VERY successful and I am enjoying being able to use a needle and thread with no trouble. Some of the sewing is for my Esty shop. I am also going to an event in May, which a friend and I are sharing a table at.

Since today is meetup and I am taking the fur-some foursome by myself, I finally sewed up a belly band for Marty. He can lift his little leg like crazy and NO TROUBLE! I made this one reversible. Here is the doggie print side....

and here is the "fishing" side......

Here's a pic of some of the dresses I have made so far. Not a good shot to show details, but you see what I've been up to.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Hard work....

My dad called yesterday afternoon. He and A drove to Florida. They took 2 days to drive down and I believe will do the same coming back. He is actually taking 14 days of vacation. You have to understand my dad...the last time he took 14 days vacation was my senior year in highschool when we (he, my bestfriend and I) drove to Florida to visit my grandparents. Honestly, I think to myself, my dad is 73 and has only taken 2 vacations over one week in length????. My dad is a different breed. His parents were hard workers, he was and still is a hard worker. As a young man he worked the farm, went to school, and was an apprentice plumbing/heating by 17. When I think I've had a rough time or worked hard, I just think of my dad.....

Stay tuned....

On Friday, April 4 at 4:00 pm EST, OPRAH will air a show exposing puppy mill horrors and working to educate the public on how to stop supporting them through purchases of their “products” at the pet stores. Lisa Ling did the investigation, and was as disgusted and appalled as those of us who work with the dogs rescued from these places. Please spread the word about this episode. Please watch the show, listen to the stories, and open your heart to the atrocities these sweet animals have to live with. Then, take action to stop the mills and the stores that treat animals like cash crops.

I know this will be hard to watch. If you've never seen puppymill videos or witnessed a puppymill dog in person...be prepared.

Happy Fool's Day

Today's lesson: April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day.

Though not a holiday, is a notable day celebrated in many countries on April 1. The day is marked by the commission of practical jokes and hoaxes on friends, enemies and neighbors, or sending them on fool's errands, the aim, of course to embarrass the gullible. Traditionally, in some countries, the jokes only last until noon. If you play a trick on someone after this time you are the April Fool.

Years ago my co-worker and I decided we would play an April Fool's Joke on our boss. He had a large diary type calendar on his desk at the time and before he got to work, we penciled in "fake" appointments. We picked his worst client's and put them about every hour. We also put in a lunch with someone who drove him CRAZY. Then we sat and waited.......and waited.......and waited. Then we heard the crabbing and then he got FURIOUS. By this point our other boss and the two of us were heads down laughing at our desks. We found out that day that he just couldn't take a joke!!! Now each year on this day I ask him how his calendar looks.....at least now he smiles.

One year my mom put salt in the sugar dish...of course horrible...but funnier was she forgot to change the container back to sugar and my gram made a rubarb pie using it. My mom loved rubarb pie and the last laugh was on her!

Anyone out there ever played a joke or had one played on them?

Oh, almost forgot....class dismissed....
