Money Plant

Who says we can't grow money? That is a Money Plant. Years and years ago we had these plants growing everywhere! Seems my granny must have gotten some seeds, either on a trip to her homeland or from one of her many friend's gardens.

Over the years the HUGE abundance of these plants has diminished in our yard. I always thought they looked VERY weedy and hated them for popping up in my neat flowerbeds. I tugged and pulled them out.

But now? Now, I love that the butterflies love the purple wildflowers that these start out being. They turn in to flat green shapes and then eventually dry up. They will naturally shed the two outer layers and leave behind the "coin" looking dried flowers. They look beautiful in a vase or dried arrangement!

So this year a whole crop of these came up in the creeping myrtle in the front yard....and I left them. The dry Summer made them change sooner, but I cut about half of them and have been peeling off the outer layers a few at a time. I have saved all the seeds. I am going to take most of them up to camp to scatter along the woods on the way into camp. Maybe next year I'll see my granny's Money Plants grow miles from home.....

PS - Anyone want some seeds??????

You think they don't remember???

Most of you recall that Kiki is our Kentuckiana (KPR) baby. In June of 2010 she came into the world on the KPR webcam set up in Annie's basement. She along with her 7 brothers, sisters and her mama were watched over by Annie....or Nanny Annie as we have dubbed her. Kiki's brothers Jeff and Stewie were adopted by local families and we have been wanting to get the three of them together for a "reunion". This past weekend, the stars aligned and we got that opportunity. Kiki with her sister Greta were the last two at the house and Kiki has not seen Annie, since late August of 2010, when I drove to Indy to pick her up. Their reunion brought tears to my eyes. She went Pug butt crazy when she saw Annie on Friday night, and then on Saturday at the Posse house she confirmed with us that she DID indeed remember Annie!

Kiki "greets" her brother Stewie. These two are about the same height, but Stewie is def slimmer. When Jeff arrived I ran to pick him up! Whoa! Jeff weighs in at a whopping 37 pounds. He is a gentle giant!!!

The three siblings trying to get a pic with Annie.....yeah, that didn't work out so well! Here is a fairly good shot of the three of them. I think you can def tell they are related! Stewie had a bad reaction to his shots that morning and nearly didn't make the party. We are so happy he did, although I don't think he was feeling his best.

This wigglebutts were hard to keep still! The size difference is amazing!
It wasn't long before Annie had to leave to get back home to her own Pug Circus.
You think they don't remember? They remember love.......

Welcome to our hotel, you need fresh towels?

Welcome to my, I mean OUR room. What? I don't get the whole bed???? Seriously?Vinny tried out the shelf unit. He sat up there several times. I think he was hoping *danburymint* will use him as a model!Vinny tried on his shirt that we made him. It needs a little adjusting for the perfect fit, but perhaps this little guy will grow a tad more. He is just 10 months old this week. Then these two decided to have playtime. Vinny easily played and followed Kiki about. Her tags help him keep an "eye" on her.Tuckered out from the playtime.Kiki's Nanny Annie from KPR met me to get take-out for dinner. I did an amazing u-turn in a very busy intersection. Are u-turns legal in Indy? Annie followed me to the hotel to see Kiki for this first time since August of 2010. Sadly I did NOT get photos. It was amazing to see the recognition! We had fun talking while enjoying dinner. Then she had to leave to go take care of her Holly baby who is ill. We told her we would see her on Saturday and got ready for bedtime....uh, hello Kiki....that bed is NOT just for you!

Morning came VERY early when L's alarm went off at 1:45 a.m., which she slept through!

Home again....

We have arrived home safely and said our goodbyes to L and Mr. Vinny. We hear they just arrived at their house and are now in the process of saying hello to Vinny's new family. He is one adorable little guy. May he show the world that being blind is NOT a handicap! Rock on Vinny, your a New York Pug now! Miss Kiki is frankly quite exhausted from the trip. The lack of beauty sleep and being SO GOOD the last few days have been very tiring for her. She is resting and waiting for P and the others to return home from camp.

Thanks to everyone for showing us the love that is Indy. Special heavenly hugs to Lilo for introducing us to KPR and the Indy Bloggers. A little Pug CAN make a difference! Also HUGE thanks to Vikki, Denny and the Pug Posse for hosting a great party and having us overnight! Hope we didn't wake anyone up this morning!!!!

Stay tuned tomarrow for pics of our fun, but too short trip to Indy!

Road Warriors

Our furry gang are very seasoned travelers. I often take photos of the funny antics. Sort of "over the shoulder" type photos. Barely centered, but fun.

Zoey usually rests her head on the side door. Sometimes she sleeps, other times she is just waiting for a car to get next to us to bark her little butt off. Rose looks worred, as always.

Marty squeezes in and sleeps and Kiki watches my every movement.

Lavender Festival

I found out about this wonderful festival through a local paper at camp. On Saturday a friend and I decided to go while the "men fished". Turns out it was less than a 10 minute drive! The shop here is open April to October, Thursday to Sunday. I have NO idea why I never knew about this place!!!! I know I have NEVER seen a field of Lavender.

There are all different kinds too, although I have to admit they looked the same to me. Other strange this was I could NOT smell it. My friend says she was knocked over by the smell.
They have a farm museum here too. Since we live in on what's left of my family's farm, it is always fun to see the items we have and the ones I recall from my childhood days.
I purchased some Lavender spray to help with Rosie's itching, some "ant spray" and a bar of "Poor Willie" dog soap. I love finding new things that are all natural! The festival itself had crafters, food, and speakers. They even had Lavender Ice Cream! I did stop a couple of young boys and ask how they liked it....not so much I guess.

I look forward to visiting the shop and farm again.
